Swimming pool facilities are open June 21st at 1:00 p.m..
The Swimming pool facilities at Thorne Street are now closed for the 2007 season. Read information below on the new procedures for resident and non-residents. Check in throughout the winter and spring for updates for the 2008 season.
For your convenience, RPID Cards can be obtained during the following times at Village Hall:
- Monday-Friday, 9:00am-Noon and 1:30–3:00p.m. at Village Hall.
Swim Lesson Registration Dates - Registration for swimming lessons will be held at the pool on Thorne Street on the following dates:

The Village of Horseheads in cooperation with the Town of Horseheads and Village of Elmira Heights will provide free swimming for all their respective residents at Sullivan Park Pool on Thorne Street this summer. This is made possible by several grants and shared services agreements. Residents must acquire a RESIDENT PHOTO ID CARD (RPID) at the Horseheads Village Hall at 202 S. Main Street in Horseheads (adjacent to the Horseheads Police Department) to use the pool. Each family member must have an RPID to use the Pool. The cost of the RESIDENT PHOTO ID IS $5.00 PER PERSON.
The Village of Horseheads in cooperation with the Town of Horseheads and Village of Elmira Heights will provide free swimming for all their respective residents at Sullivan Park Pool on Thorne Street this summer. The RPID will only be issued to residents of the Village of Horseheads, Village of Elmira Heights and Town of Horseheads. Residents must complete the RESIDENT POOL PASS APPLICATION and present it at the Village Hall with proof of residency (i.e. unaltered NYS DMV Photo License, or professional photo ID with home address, Village Tax receipt, etc.) Photos for the ID CARDS will be taken at the Village Hall upon submission of the application, proof of residency and the $5.00 Fee. Family members must be permanent legal residents of one of the municipalities.
The RPID will only be issued to residents of the Village of Horseheads, Town of Horseheads, and Village of Elmira Heights. - Swimming pool facilities are open from June 23 through August 21, 2005.
(:ifend:) Residents of the Village and Town of Horseheads: Free admission with identification.
Non-resident swimmers: $2.00 for ages 12 and under and $4.00 for adults 13 and over (:if date 20060623..20060816 :) Groups are welcome but must pre-register to use the pool by calling the pool manager at (607) 739–9740.
- Teen Swims and Family Swims also occur throughout the summer.
- Teen Swim is held on Monday evenings from 8:00pm to 10:00pm. This fun activitiy includes special activities and giveaways for youth ages 13 to 17 only. Entertainment is provided by a local deejay.
- Family Swim is held Wednesdays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- The Pool may be rented for approved private parties at a rate of $50.00/hour.
- Swimming lessons are provided in July and August. Contact the pool manager at (607) 739–9740.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: COST of Daily Pool Operations: $93.00/HR This includes cost of lifeguards, pool chemicals, maintenance and operation of the filter system, liability insurance and an annual painting of the steel shell. Each lifeguard at Sullivan Park Pool is certified in lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR. These cards must be renewed regularly. The NYS Department of Health regulates the operation of all public pools in New York State. Sullivan Park Pool is regularly inspected by the Chemung County Health Department.
