Neighborhood Watch

Return of Neighborhood Watch

The Horseheads Police Department has recognized the need to re-establish the community-based NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH program within the Village of Horseheads. The Horseheads Police Department has encountered various situations over the past year in which community involvement has greatly assisted in preventing and solving crime within the community. It has become vividly apparent that the need for community involvement and assistance can greatly support the police department’s mission of keeping your community safe and secure.

This community based NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH program is a simple and direct approach toward protecting our community from the criminal element. The program involves the reduction of criminal opportunity through citizen participation in crime prevention measures. Your active participation includes being alert and aware of suspicious or criminal activity and reporting these findings to the police. By supplying these facts to the police, you directly affect the reduction of criminal opportunity in your neighborhood.

Again, the Horseheads Police Department is re-establishing this program and any Village of Horseheads resident interested in committing to the community-based NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH program is invited to join. Simply email Police Chief Mike Barton and indicate your interest in this program. Participants will be contacted by the Horseheads Police Department.
