Neighborhood Watch
Next Meeting Date: February 28, 2023 at 7:00pm, Village Hall- 202 S. Main Street, Horseheads, NY
Per the National Neighborhood Watch, "Our nation is built on the strength of our citizens. Every day, we encounter situations calling upon us to be the eyes and ears of law enforcement. Not only does neighborhood watch allow citizens to help in the fight against crime, it is also an opportunity for communities to bond through service. The Neighborhood Watch Program draws upon the compassion of average citizens, asking them to lend their neighbors a hand."
There are many potential benefits of a local neighborhood watch:
- a reduction in crime
- a better quality of life
- a greater sense of security, responsibility, and personal control
- building community pride and unity
- preparing for helping others and ourselves in our community
- providing law enforcement agencies with volunteer support year round
- becoming the extra “eyes and ears” of law enforcement personnel and therefore reduce law enforcement‘s burden
The Village of Horseheads Neighborhood Watch encourages Village residents to install home security/camera systems.
